Polls
Key features
Discord-native poll publishing
Create timed dashboard polls that Nox posts as Discord native poll messages in the selected channel.
Structured answer choices
Configure the question, answer options, duration, multi-select behaviour, and optional unicode or custom emoji for each answer.
Result history
When a poll closes, Nox fetches Discord's result counts and stores a result snapshot for dashboard history.
Recurring schedules and controls
Run one-off or recurring polls, pause or resume series, and add exclusions for dates when a poll should not run.
Optional discussion threads
When enabled, each posted poll can open a public thread on the poll message so members can discuss the question while voting in Discord.
Best for
Event time votes, content choices, feature priorities, staff decisions, or recurring community check-ins.
Decisions where members should vote in Discord's familiar native poll UI.
Repeated questions that need predictable timing and a stored result history.
How it works
Configure the poll series
Staff choose the channel, question, answers, optional answer emoji, duration, timezone, recurrence, exclusions, and whether the posted poll should get a discussion thread.
Nox plans each run
Saving the poll updates the current and next runs, plus the scheduled start, end, and optional resume work.
Members vote in Discord
At the start time, Nox posts a Discord native poll and opens a discussion thread when enabled. Members vote in Discord's built-in poll interface; Nox does not own custom vote buttons or vote commands.
Results are captured after close
At the end time, Nox fetches the Discord message and stores answer counts in the same order the answers were posted, then shows the result snapshot in dashboard history.
Setup checklist
Choose a channel where Nox can view, send, embed, and manage the posted poll message.
Write answer text in the exact order you want results to appear.
Add optional answer emoji only when the unicode emoji or guild custom emoji is valid for the guild.
Review duration, timezone, recurrence, and exclusions before publishing a recurring poll.
Enable discussion threads when each posted poll should create a public thread for run-specific chat.
Configure scheduled-feature manager roles when non-admin staff should pause or resume polls from Discord.
Important notes
Poll voting happens inside Discord's native poll UI. Nox does not provide a separate command for creating dashboard polls or voting in them.
Results are captured when the poll ends. There is no live vote sync in the dashboard while a Discord poll is active.
Result counts are mapped back to stored answers by answer order, so avoid reordering a poll in a way that would confuse members after it is posted.
Optional discussion threads are tied to each scheduled poll. Nox attempts to remove them before deleting the poll message.
/poll pauseand/poll resumecontrol existing dashboard poll series; they do not create a new poll.
Troubleshooting
A poll did not post
Confirm the schedule has an upcoming run, the channel still exists, and Nox can send native poll messages there. Permanent Discord failures can mark the poll series errored.
Results are not visible yet
Results are stored after the end job fetches the Discord message. If the poll is still active, wait for the configured duration to finish.
Pause or resume autocomplete is empty
Confirm the actor has scheduled-feature management permissions or a configured manager role, and that there are matching active, errored, or paused poll series.
Discussion threads are missing
Confirm discussion threads are enabled for the poll and Nox has Create Public Threads and Manage Threads permissions in the poll channel.
Commands
The live slash-command reference from Discord, including options and default permissions.
/poll pause
Pause a poll, optionally until a date.
/poll resume
Resume a paused poll.
Permissions
Discord permissions Nox needs for this feature and what each permission is used for.
