Dashboard and Discord giveaway creation

Build giveaway series from the dashboard, or create one-off giveaways from /giveaway create with a prize, duration, winner count, optional channel, required role, prize giver, and rewards.

Live entry tracking

Members enter or leave while a giveaway is live from the giveaway button. Nox keeps the live message refreshed with the current entry count.

Winner drawing and rerolls

Nox draws the configured number of winners when the run ends. Staff can check status, end a giveaway early, and reroll winners from Discord.

Recurring schedules and exclusions

Run giveaways once or on a repeat cadence, pause and resume future runs, and add one-off or recurring exclusions when a date should be skipped.

Optional discussion threads

When enabled, each posted giveaway can open a public thread on the giveaway message so members can discuss that run without crowding the channel.

Best for

  • Reward active members during milestones, launches, streams, events, or seasonal campaigns.

  • Let moderators run controlled prize draws without manually collecting entries in chat.

  • Repeat engagement campaigns on a schedule while keeping winner selection and entry rules consistent.

How it works

Configure the giveaway

Staff choose the prize, channel, message, schedule, winner count, required roles, optional bonus odds, optional XP or currency rewards, and whether the posted giveaway should get a discussion thread.

Nox schedules the run

Saving the giveaway creates the planned run and the scheduled start, end, and optional resume work needed to post and close it at the right time.

Members enter while live

Nox posts the live giveaway message and opens a discussion thread when enabled. Members use the entry button, and Nox updates the message after entry changes.

Nox closes and records winners

At the end time, Nox draws winners, records the draw, disables the entry button, grants configured rewards, and keeps reroll history separate from the initial draw.

Setup checklist

  • Choose the giveaway channel and confirm Nox can view, send, embed, react, and manage messages there.

  • Enable discussion threads when each posted giveaway should create a public thread for run-specific chat.

  • Write a prize name between 3 and 100 characters and choose 1 to 50 winners.

  • Use a duration of at least 360 minutes for accepted giveaways.

  • Add required entry roles or bonus odds only for roles that still exist in the guild.

  • Configure giveaway manager roles when non-admin staff should run moderator commands from Discord.

Important notes

  • Giveaway entry buttons only work while a run is live. Ended, deleted, inactive, or missing runs reject new entries without changing stored state.

  • /giveaway create creates a one-off schedule and uses the guild default timezone when one is available.

  • Moderator commands require either the relevant Discord permissions or one of the configured giveaway manager roles.

  • Winner rewards are tracked so retrying the close step should not grant the same initial winner reward twice.

  • Optional discussion threads are tied to each scheduled run. Nox attempts to remove them before deleting the giveaway message.

  • Giveaways do not use Discord modals, select menus, native scheduled events, or webhooks.

Troubleshooting

A giveaway did not post

Check that the run has a future schedule, the target channel still exists, and Nox can view, send, and embed in that channel. Permanent Discord failures can mark the series errored and create an entry on the Errors page.

A member cannot enter

Confirm the giveaway is live, has not reached any entry cap, and that the member has at least one configured required role when required roles are set.

The entry count looks stale

Entry changes update the message after a short delay. If the count does not update, confirm Nox can edit the live giveaway message and check giveaway errors.

Discussion threads are missing

Confirm discussion threads are enabled for the giveaway and Nox has Create Public Threads and Manage Threads permissions in the giveaway channel.
