Events
Key features
Recurring event series
Build event series with weekly, monthly, or yearly schedules, end dates, one-off exclusions, and recurring exclusion rules. Nox plans the current and next runs from that schedule.
Discord announcements, events, and threads
Each run can publish a rich announcement message. When enabled, Nox can also create and update a native Discord scheduled event, then open a public discussion thread on the announcement message.
Simple or grouped RSVPs
Simple events collect yes, maybe, or no responses. Grouped events can track roles such as tank, healer, and DPS, plus group preferences, visible placement, reservations, blocked users, and one leader per group.
Manager controls from Discord
Event managers can pause, resume, reserve, unreserve, block, unblock, promote, and demote from the event command without opening the dashboard.
Best for
Recurring raids, meetups, lessons, watch parties, or campaign nights.
Events where attendance counts or group composition matter before start time.
Communities that want Discord scheduled events and Nox RSVP messages kept in step.
How it works
Configure the series
Staff choose the announcement channel, schedule, event duration, reminder timing, RSVP mode, message content, optional Discord scheduled-event settings, and whether each posted announcement should get a discussion thread.
Nox plans each run
Saving the series creates or updates the upcoming runs and scheduled post, start, and end work. Edits, exclusions, pause, resume, and delete update that plan.
Nox publishes and updates the run
At the post time, Nox sends the event announcement and optionally creates the Discord scheduled event and discussion thread. Later jobs mark the run live and ended, patching the announcement as the state changes.
Members and managers update the roster
Members RSVP from buttons. Event managers can adjust reservations, blocks, and group leaders from Discord commands. Promoted leaders are shown in their assigned group when their grouped RSVP can still fit that group's role slots. Nox batches roster changes and refreshes the announcement.
Setup checklist
Choose the announcement channel and confirm Nox can view, send, and embed there.
Pick whether the event should be simple RSVP or grouped by role and capacity.
If using native Discord scheduled events, configure the location and give Nox event create/manage permissions.
Enable discussion threads when each posted event announcement should create a public thread for run-specific chat.
Review recurrence, end date, duration, and exclusions before publishing a long-running series.
Configure scheduled-feature manager roles when non-admin staff should manage events from Discord.
Important notes
Events are run-based. Editing a series updates future planned runs, while runs that have already ended stay as history.
Pause and resume affect future scheduling. A pause-until time creates a resume job so the series can restart automatically.
RSVP buttons target the specific run. If a run is ended, deleted, or no longer accepting responses, Nox replies without changing the roster.
Optional discussion threads are tied to each scheduled run. Nox attempts to remove them before deleting the announcement message.
Grouped placement is deterministic. Reservations, blocks, leaders, role capacity, queue time, and preferred group all affect where members appear.
Leaders are run-specific group placements, not event owners. A manager can promote one member per group, and the member must have a grouped yes RSVP with a role that can fit in that group. If a leader leaves the roster, Nox removes their leader placement.
Troubleshooting
An event did not post
Check that the schedule has an upcoming run and that the announcement channel still exists. Missing channel access or permanent Discord failures can mark the series errored and create an entry on the Errors page.
Discord scheduled events are missing
Confirm the series has native Discord scheduled events enabled, includes a valid location, and Nox has Create Events and Manage Events permissions.
Discussion threads are missing
Confirm discussion threads are enabled for the series and Nox has Create Public Threads and Manage Threads permissions in the announcement channel.
RSVP counts look stale
RSVP and manager changes update the announcement after a short delay. If counts do not update, check unresolved event errors and confirm Nox can edit the original announcement message.
A leader change was not available
Confirm the run is still open, uses grouped RSVP role slots, the group number exists, and the member has a grouped yes RSVP with a role that can fit in the target group.
